A basic understanding of framework, processes, and protocols used uniformly in any emergency, crisis, or disaster response activities, at all levels, is essential to participation in any aspect of emergency response.
Below are the basic, no cost, online courses required to understand the Emergency Management response constructs and protocols responders and managers at all levels are expected to be familiar with when responding to any crisis, emergency, or disaster, along with some recommendations for an accelerated path to successful completion of the courses.
Go to http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/crslist.asp and click applicable IS course.
Choose the course you desire to take in ascending order; IS-100FW, IS-200FW, IS-700, IS-800.
IS-100FW - Introduction to the Incident Command System for Federal Disaster Workers
If IS-100FW not available, go to IS-100 instead.
